The next generations are eager to push Wales forward

Green GEN Cymru would like to thank Darogan for inviting us to their recent graduate event at the Depot in Cardiff

A resounding and positive success, our Green GEN team was delighted to speak with hundreds of graduates eager to contribute to the sector. We were keen to shine a spotlight on the wealth of opportunities within Wales’s growing green economy.

As Wales’s largest independent distribution network operator, Green GEN Cymru is investing £1 billion in grid infrastructure, making us a key player in the nation’s energy transition. At the event, our team members shared their diverse career journeys and offered real-world insights into working in one of the UK’s most dynamic and fast-growing sectors. Their enthusiasm was clear as they engaged with attendees from all backgrounds—whether interested in engineering, policy, engagement, or planning.

Rachel Foster, Associate Project Manager, summed up the spirit of the day:
“It was fantastic to speak to so many people interested in building a career with purpose. No matter the skillset, there’s no shortage of opportunity—and Wales is right at the heart of it. I did my degree in languages but here I am helping build the infrastructure to power the future. There is no set degree path; we, alongside the whole sector, just need committed and passionate people in every corner of Wales to help deliver it.”

The event not only offered valuable networking and career advice but also demonstrated Green GEN Cymru’s commitment to supporting the next generation of talent. Our participation helped inspire attendees to consider how their skills could contribute to a cleaner, fairer energy system for Wales.
