Supporting local runners and communities across Mid Wales and Shropshire

Green GEN Cymru is pleased to announce a new partnership with Adrenaline Sporting Events, an organisation that brings people together through inclusive running events across Mid and North Wales, and Shropshire.

With routes that pass-through communities along our proposed Vyrnwy Frankton project corridor, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting local people.

At its heart, this collaboration is about shared values: encouraging active lifestyles, celebrating the outdoors and supporting the towns and villages that sit along these event routes. By backing Adrenaline Sporting Events’ programme, we hope to play a small part in creating more opportunities for people to get involved, improve their wellbeing and enjoy the places around them.

As part of the partnership, we will support the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon on 13 September 2026. Members of the team will take part in the event and volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to support participants and help create a memorable experience. The Lake Vyrnwy 10k trail is also due to take place on Sunday 21 June 2026.

This local connection is particularly important to the business. Many of the communities engaged through Adrenaline Sporting Events are also communities connected to the proposed Vyrnwy Frankton project. As we continue to develop our proposals, we remain committed to engaging openly and positively with local people while supporting initiatives that deliver lasting value beyond infrastructure development.

Community investment and local partnerships are an important part of how we work as a business. Alongside helping to deliver infrastructure that supports Wales’s energy ambitions, we want to build long-term relationships and contribute positively to the places connected to our projects. Supporting events such as the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon provides an opportunity to celebrate the region’s landscapes, encourage healthy and active lifestyles, and connect with residents, participants and visitors in a meaningful way.

Alan Lewis, Founder and Owner of Adrenaline Sporting Events, said:
“Adrenaline Sporting Events are thrilled to be teaming up with Green GEN Cymru for the season. We are really looking forward to seeing the team on the start line”.

Owen Jones, External Affairs Manager at Green GEN Cymru, said:
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Adrenaline Sporting Events and supporting their programme across the region. From 5ks to 50ks, and from trail runs in Lake Vyrnwy to road races in Oswestry, Adrenaline Sporting Events are helping to build an active community, with people taking part for fitness, competition, charity, health, fun, or simply to cross the finish line.
“We’re committed to being a positive and active presence in the communities connected to our work. Supporting local events is one of the ways we can build those relationships and contribute to the wider social value of the areas where we work.
“We’re looking forward to meeting participants on the day and wish everyone taking part the very best of luck.”
