Green GEN Cymru Welcomes the Electricity Networks Sector Growth Plan

The UK electricity supply chain and network industry has published the interim Electricity Networks Sector Growth Plan (ENSGP), setting out how the expansion and upgrade of Britain’s electricity networks can support jobs, skills and long-term economic growth.

Developed jointly by the Energy Networks Association (ENA) and BEAMA, with input from network operators, supply-chain organisations and industry stakeholders, the plan outlines the infrastructure, workforce and manufacturing capacity needed to deliver a future net-zero electricity system.

The interim report highlights that the programme will:

  • Support the creation of tens of thousands of skilled jobs across network operators, contractors and the wider supply chain

  • Align network investment with growth in housing, low-carbon transport, green manufacturing and future-tech sectors

  • Provide a clear roadmap for workforce and supply-chain development to meet growing demand

The plan also underlines the importance of coordination between industry, government and supply-chain partners to deliver benefits beyond infrastructure — including secure, affordable and decarbonised power, alongside sustained investment in skills and manufacturing.
